WELCOME BACK!!
After a hiatus while we relocated our home base, the blog is back.
Don’t miss my fearless picks and predictions in Major League Baseball in the blog later this week.
Basketball is in the news, with the NCAA tournament now down to the Sweet Sixteen. My chance at claiming the $1 Billion prize went down the drain very quickly, but it is still a great event, regardless. It is a lot of fun to watch these teams play for the name in front of the uniform. The Southeast Conference is showing signs of life after a season of inconsistent play, sending three teams to the Sweet 16, with Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee all advancing. My original selections for the Final Four are still in play, with Florida, Arizona, Michigan State, and Louisville still hanging around. I still have Florida winning it all.
The battle to advance to the Elite Eight are this Thursday and Friday:
THURSDAY FRIDAY
Florida vs UCLA Virginia vs Michigan State
Dayton vs Stanford Iowa State vs Connecticut
Wisconsin vs Baylor Tennessee vs Michigan
Arizona vs San Diego State Louisville vs Kentucky
The winners of these games will play on Saturday to determine the Final Four.
In the NBA, the Heat are struggling through the dog days of the regular season, and they have lost seven out of their last eleven. The team is struggling defensively, and they will be tested tonight at the AAA, when they face a very good Portland Trailblazers. The last time these teams squared off was on December 28th, in Portland, when the Heat, playing without LeBron James, beat the Blazers 108-107 on last-second game-winning three-point shot by Chris Bosh, who finished the game with 37 points and 10 rebounds. Tonight’s game tips off at 7:30 pm, and it will be telecast by Sun Sports, and will also be on NBA-TV nationwide.
After tonight’s game, the Heat will hit the road for three games, before returning to the AAA next Monday against the Toronto Raptors.
The Heat’s upcoming schedule:
Heat @ Pacers Wed 3/26 8:00 pm Sun Sports, ESPN
Heat @ Pistons Fri 3/28 7:30 pm Sun Sports
Heat @ Bucks Sat 3/29 8:30 pm Sun Sports

Let’s go to the Marlins and the rest of MLB:
TODAY’S TRIVIA QUESTION: Who is the first non-Yankee to win as many as three World Series since Jim Palmer of the Orioles won his third in 1983? The answer comes later, alligator.
Opening day in Major League Baseball is Sunday, March 30th, when the Los Angeles Dodgers meet the San Diego Padres on ESPN at 8:00 pm. Of course, the Dodgers are already 2-0 this season, after opening up in the fake opening two-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Australia. MY TAKE: There is a drive to make MLB’s opening day a national holiday. That’s all nice and good, but it can’t and won’t happen if all teams don’t open their season on the same day.
Speaking of the Dodgers, they’re again worried about Yasiel Puig and his attitude, both on and off the field.
