The Heat will try and close out their series against the Chicago Bulls tonight at the AAA.  Tipoff is at 7pm, and you can watch the game on TNT.  Dwyane Wade is still hobbling around due to a knee injury that is not getting better, and may be limited in his playing time tonight, if he plays at all.  In the other semifinal games last night,

As the NBA prepares for the upcoming draft, the NBA combine starts today in Chicago where the league has invited 61 draft eligible players for rounds of interviews, athletic tests, and, just as important, measure them to determine their true heights.  Among the invitees are former Hurricanes Shane Larkin and Kenny Kadji.  Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald is all over the story:

In NFL and Dolphin news, some Dolphin players are showing a lot of self-confidence in talking about the upcoming season.  Here’s the Herald report:

Could Tim Tebow’s future be in Arena Football?  USA Today’s Ted Berg talks about it here:

Let’s go to the diamonds.  Cincinnati’s Homer Bailey threw a six-hit complete game and the Reds beat the Marlins 6-2.  Xavier Paul drove in three runs and Brandon Phillips drove in a pair.  Ricky Nolasco gave up all six Reds runs, including five in the second inning, two of them on bases-loaded walks.  Derek Dietrich and Adeiny Hechavarria each had two hits and drove in a run.  The pitching matchups for the rest of the series vs. the Reds:

Wednesday 7:10 pm Mike Leake vs Alex Sanabia
Thursday   7:10 pm Mat Latos vs Jose Fernandez

Of course, the Fish are still bringing up the rear in MLB in runs scored.  They’re still last in runs scored with 110 in their 39 games. I will be posting the “bottom five” rankings in runs scored until the Marlins aren’t on the list. We could be here a while.

Marlins.com talks about all the Marlins’ injuries and the return of catcher Jeff Mathis from the DL:

The reports of the demise of the New York Yankees were greatly exaggerated, according to Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports:

Morosi also filed this report on the sad state of affairs of Los Angeles baseball and other tidbits:

My take:  Do not blame the managers for the debacle of the Angels and Dodgers this season.

From USA Today, you have to check out this video of the 18-month old little girl who recites the names and numbers of the greatest Yankee players in their history.

The ridiculous and ludicrous accusations of Mickey Mantle corking a bat are finally beginning to disappear.  Here’s the story from FoxSports.com:

My take:  In 1964, all sluggers used heavier and longer bats to generate power.  Making a bat lighter by using cork to speed up the swing was not in fashion back then.  This is a fabricated and concocted story with no basis in fact.
