Let’s hit the court for the NBA finals.  The Heat have won 13 games, and need just three more wins to repeat.  Of those 13  victories, Miami has won 11 by double digits.  The best-of-seven series is tied at 1-1, game three is tonight, in San Antonio, starting at 9:00 pm.  This is the 13th time since the Finals were changed to a 2-3-2 format that the series has been tied at 1-1.  The winner of game 3 has won the series 11 of 12 times, the only exception was the Heat against the Mavericks in 2011.   Miami needs continued good production from their bench, something they have gotten during this year’s playoffs.  The Heat bench has outscored the opponent’s bench in 17 of the 18 games during this postseason.   Time to take back the home court advantage tonight, and you can watch the contest on ABC, Channel 10 in South Florida.  Here’s the schedule:

Game 3 Tue, June 11 9:00 pm @ San Antonio
Game 4 Thu, June 13 9:00 pm @ San Antonio
Game 5 * Sun, June 16 8:00 pm @ San Antonio
Game 6 * Tue, June 18 9:00 pm @ Miami
Game 7 * Thu, June 20 9:00 pm @ Miami

TODAY’S TRIVIA QUESTION:  Who are the top five scorers in the NBA playoffs in history?  I’m feeling a tad generous, so I’ll give you #3 - Kobe Bryant.  Tell you later, alligator.

Great insight from Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel:

David J. Neal of the Miami Herald has some observations on the series so far:

Here’s ESPN’s preview of tonight’s game 3:

In news from around the NFL, Tim Tebow is headed to the New England Patriots.  ESPN is all over this one:

If Coach Bill Bellichick makes this work, it will be his greatest accomplishment, according to ESPN:

Tebow won’t be throwing to Wes Welker if and when he plays, since Welker is now teamed up with Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.  Welker seems to be enjoying it so far in the Mile High City:

In Dolphin News, the Herald is reporting that defensive lineman Randy Starks will be participating in this week’s mandatory minicamp:

By the way, why isn’t Armando Salguero back at the Herald yet covering the Dolphins?  Only the shadow knows.

Let’s go to the diamond.  The Marlins are truly disappointed that they are not playing the Mets, and they showed it at Marlins Park last night against Yovani Gallardo and the Milwaukee Brewers.  Gallardo threw eight innings of four-hit, shutout ball and the Brew Crew beat the Marlins 6-1.  Gallardo is 4-0 in his career against the Fish.  Jonathan Lucroy went 4-5 with two RBI, Carlos Gomez also drove in a pair and went 3-5, and Rickie Weeks connected long distance against Ricky Nolasco, who got rocked for four runs and ten hits in 5 1/3 innings.  Giancarlo Stanton returned to the Marlins lineup in right field and batting third.  He went 1-4.  Marcell Ozuna moved to center field and hit cleanup behind the man-child.   Tonight, starting at 7:10 at Marlins Park, it will be Jacob Turner toeing the rubber for the Fish against Wily Peralta.

The Fish are still the worst run-scoring team in MLB, with 188 runs in their 63 games.  Here are the bottom dwellers:

TEAM                 W-L       Runs
Marlins 18-45 188
Nationals 31-31 216
Dodgers 27-36 221
White Sox 28-34 224
Pirates 37-26 229

Red Sox 10 Rays 8 (14 innings)
Daniel Nava drove in the winning run in the top of the 14th inning.

Rangers 6 Indians 3
Lance Berkman connected long distance with a man on in the seventh inning.  Jeff Baker also went yard for the Rangers.   The Indians have lost eight in a row.

White Sox 10 Blue Jays 6
Adam Dunn went 4-4 with two home runs and five RBI.  Alejandro de Aza had two hits and two RBI.

Padres 7 Braves 6
The Braves scored four runs in the ninth inning, three of them on a three-run homer by Evan Gattis, but fell just short.
