Like Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said after game six . . “The two best words in team sports - - Game Seven”.  The Spurs and the Heat tonight at the AAA.  Tipoff at 9:00 pm.  If you are going to the game, make sure you stay for the entire game.  Don’t embarrass yourselves.

Tonight’s game seven is the eighteenth in NBA Finals history, and the home team is 14-3.  The last time it happened:  1978, when the Washington Bullets beat the Seattle Supersonics.

LeBron James averages 33.8 points per game in game sevens.  Michael Jordan is second with a 33.7 average.  LeBron is 2-2 in his career in game sevens - 0-2 with Cleveland, 2-0 with the Heat.

The Spurs have never lost a game seven in the finals, but they have never played one on the road.

TODAY’S TRIVIA QUESTION:  Today’s question comes from “La Decana”, my wife Grace.  Where did Ray Allen go to college?  Tell you later, alligator.

The “7 on 7” section in ESPN.com asks the question. “Who wants it more”?

The Heat’s players sent a message to the fans who left game six early:

My message to the Heat players:  Don’t worry about that.  Just win tonight.

The fans in San Antonio are turning to a “higher authority” for divine intervention in tonight’s game seven.  You have to check out the front page story in today’s San Antonio Express-News:

Does everyone remember Ray Allen as “Jesus Shuttleworth” in the movie “He Got Game”?  Shandel Richardson of the Sun-Sentinel obviously remembers:

The news from the NFL has been really weird this past couple of weeks, and this is yet another example:

Cody Ross’ three-run homer in the eighth inning against Mike Dunn broke a scoreless tie and lifted the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 3-1 win over the Marlins.  Jose Fernandez dominated once again, limiting the D-Backs to three hits in the first seven innings.  Fernandez opened the eighth by walking the first two hitters and was replaced by Dunn, who served up the homer to Ross, who came in to pinch hit.  Justin Ruggiano homered in the ninth off Heath Bell to account for the Marlins’ only run.  The team is in San Francisco, where they open a four-game set against the Giants tonight.  Here are the scheduled pitchers for the series:

Tonight Tom Koehler vs Chad Gaudin 10:15 pm
Friday Ricky Nolasco vs Tim Lincecum 10:15 pm
Saturday Jacob Turner vs Barry Zito          4:05 pm
Sunday Nathan Eovaldi vs Matt Cain        4:05 pm

The team will return home to take on the Minnesota Twins in a two-game series on Tuesday and Wednesday, and will play the San Diego Padres in a four game series Friday through Monday.

The Fish are still the worst run-scoring team in MLB, with 219 runs in their 71 games.  Here are the rest of the bottom-dwellers:

TEAM           W-L       Runs
Marlins 22-49 219
Nationals 35-36 249
Dodgers 30-40 250
White Sox 29-40 250
Mariners 32-41 252

Are the Pittsburgh Pirates willing to go all-in and trade for the Marlin’s Giancarlo Stanton?  They have the prospects to work out a deal, according to David Schoenfield of ESPN:

THE ANSWER TO TODAY’S TRIVIA QUESTION: Today’s question comes from “La Decana”, my wife Grace.  Where did Ray Allen go to college?

The 37-year-old shooting guard played his college ball at the University of Connecticut.  The ten-time NBA all-star began his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks, and also played with the Seattle Supersonics and the Boston Celtics before joining the Heat.
