Good morning.  I told you I would not have a blog today due to my granddaughter Ann Marie having surgery, but the damn Marlins didn’t cooperate.

It’s REALLY EARLY Wednesday as I write this, so more stuff is bound to come out.  Today it’s only Marlins stuff before we head out to the hospital.

I have been one of the most ardent supporters of this franchise since their inception, and did everything I could to support them in the stadium effort.  However, this owner and his group of maggots have again shown who and what they are and have now added the Marlins fans to their group of victims.  We have all been lied to one more time, but we still have the park.

We need to be real here for a couple of minutes:

I’m not really going to sit here and rant about the trade.  The players that they traded away haven’t won SQUAT, with the exception of Mark Buehrle, who won a World Series with the White Sox in 2005.  Buehrle is past his prime, and Josh Johnson hasn’t resembled an ace in a LOOOOOOOONG time.  Jose Reyes is a great player, the type of player and person that I want on my team, but has always been an injury risk.  Emilio Bonifacio is a very versatile player, also the type of player and person that I want on my team.  I will probably miss him the most.  Does anyone out there really care about trading John Buck and Heath Bell?  Hell, Ricky Nolasco is still there.  Maybe somebody will give you a dozen bats and two boxes of cereal for him.  The players and prospects that they are getting in return don’t play a part in the big picture or in my opinion of the transaction.  The only overpriced player in the group was Buck, the others were not overpaid, and they could have gotten more in return.  Thanks again to Larry Beinfest and Michael Hill, who again demonstrate they haven’t got a clue.  The ownership can spin this any way they want, and tell us that they cleared payroll and added prospects, etc.  However, this will not cut it.

I am a “the glass is half-full” type of person, so I do see a glimmer of hope behind this most recent wave of transactions.

I have unconfirmed reports that this team is being sold, and this obvious dumping of salaries and future obligations could be the first step in making this team more attractive to the buyer.  I am convinced that this was their plan all along.  (Remember how Alberto Pujols didn’t sign here because he wanted a no-trade clause?  Are you all beginning to see the picture more clearly?)  Sell the team after five years and reap the profits of selling the team with a new baseball park in place. SUCH A DEAL!  Yes, there is a penalty clause if they sell the team within a specific time frame after the AGREEMENT was signed, which was 2/21/08.  For example, if they sell the team after five years, (2/21/13), there is a measly 5% penalty based on the assumed value of the team being $250 million, with an increase in value of 8% per year, again, from the date of the agreement. They just saved much more than that much in dropping payroll, even if you just base it on the numbers from two years ago.  SUCH A DEAL!

To the true baseball fans out there, here’s another bit of good news.  There is a clause in the contract that guarantees that the franchise cannot move for thirty (30) years.  They’re not going anywhere.

If we look at this realistically, they have to be in the process of selling the team.  Otherwise, I find it hard to believe that MLB would allow this to go on.

Do you really think that the big-market teams are going to just sit there and allow these these guys to continue to rake in all the revenue sharing money, the national TV money, and all the other stuff they get from MLB, while operating with a tiny budget?

If they are not selling, do they really think that anyone is going to go out and buy a ticket for next year?

If they are not selling, do they really think that any future free agents are going to want to come here and play for this organization?

This ownership group is doing their best to destroy the Miami market, if they haven’t done so already.  For the last season or so, everyone just thought and believed that Ozzie Guillen was an embarrassment.  HA, HA!

Loria and his group of maggots have betrayed the baseball fans in South Florida, and I think that it is time for this owner to just sell the team, get the hell out of town with the rest of his cronies, and take his so-called baseball people with him, along with that horrendous monstrosity in centerfield with him wherever he goes.
