Back to the drawing board for the Marlins.  After scoring eight runs on Tuesday, the Fish could only muster one run against Ross Detwiler and fell again to the Nationals 6-1.  Kurt Suzuki homered and tripled and drove in two runs, and Bryce Harper went 4-5 after missing Tuesday’s game with flu-like symptoms.  Ricky Nolasco took the loss for the Fish, giving up four runs and seven hits in his six innings of work.  Donovan Solano drove in the only run for the Marlins with a single.  The Marlins are in Cincinnati, where they will take on the Reds in a four-game series through the weekend.  Jose Fernandez will toe the rubber for the Marlins, while Tony Cingrani will make his major league debut for the Reds, replacing the injured Johnny Cueto in their starting rotation.  First pitch is at 7:10 pm, and you can watch the game on Fox Sports Florida.  The Man-Child, Giancarlo Stanton is expected back in the lineup for today’s game in Cincinnati, however, starting shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria, who was scratched from the lineup yesterday due to a sore elbow, will be evaluated today to determine how long he will be out.

The Marlins are still bringing up the rear in MLB in runs scored, with a grand total of 32 runs in their first 15 games.  I will be posting the “bottom five” rankings in runs scored until the Marlins aren’t on the list:

Remember when . . . Miguel Cabrera was a Marlin?  Happy Birthday to Miggy, who turns 30 today.  He is the best hitter in baseball today, a lethal combination of power, batting average, and run production.  He has a chance to establish himself as the best hitter of this era and one of the greatest of all time.  Here is a comparison of Cabrera’s numbers at age 30 with Hank Aaron’s:

Aaron Cabrera
Home Runs                  342            323
RBI 1,121 1,140
Batting Average           .320            .318
Thanks again to Jeffrey Loria and his minions in the Marlins front office for trading him to the Tigers and getting ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in return.  No conspiracy theories, nothing personal ... these guys are just plain bad.  But, we do have a great baseball park.

Even the New York Times is talking about the Marlins:

The Yankees are hoping that Mark Teixeira is able to come back the beginning of May.  The New York Post has the inside scoop:

Here are the final individual stats in the NBA:

In Dolphin and NFL news, sources around the league are reporting that the Dolphins and the KC Chiefs are in serious trade discussions for Chiefs offensive tackle Branden Albert.  The Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero brings us some harsh realities that need to be considered:

Todd McShay of ESPN has his “ALL SATELLITE” team:  his best prospects that can go the distance from anywhere on the field.

A player on McShay’s list that the Dolphins will probably look long and hard at is Texas A&M running back Christine Michael.  Although he has had injury issues the past two seasons, this guy has the tools and physical attributes to make it as a running back in the NFL.  Check him out here:

Like father, like son?  The 49ers are working out the son of one of their all-time greats:

In college baseball, after feasting against both FIU and Miami, finally lost a game in South Florida, losing to the Hurricanes yesterday 6-1.  This season, Bethune beat FIU twice down here and the Canes once until yesterday.  FIU now heads to Murfreesboro, TN to take on Middle Tennessee in a three-game series this weekend.  The Canes will stay at home this weekend to take on Clemson in a three-game series.
