Christian Yelich drove in the only run of the game with a single, his third hit of the game, in the 10th inning.  Jose Fernandez threw seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out six.  The 21-year-old lowered his ERA to 2.45, fifth best in the National League.  Chad Qualls got the win in relief, and Steve Chisek registered his 25th save of the season.  The Marlins and the Royals close out this three-game series today with an afternoon contest that will start at 2:10 pm. Jacob Turner will start for the Fish, Ervin Santana will toe the rubber for KC.

The Fish will return to South Florida after today’s game, and will enjoy a day off tomorrow, before taking on the San Francisco Giants in a three-game series at Marlins Park starting on Friday.  Following the Giants, the Fish will host the LA Dodgers in a four-game series, and then the Colorado Rockies will be in Miami for another four-game set.

The Fish are still at the bottom of the list in runs scored in MLB, with 371 runs in their 118 games, an underwhelming 3.14 runs per game.  Here are the rest of the bottom-dwellers:

The 39-8 record in 47 games is the best since the New York Giants did it back in 1951.
