The Marlins lead the National League in losses in extra innings, and they increased their lead in that department yesterday as they lost for the 11th time this year in extra frames, falling to the Pirates 5-4.  The Fish led 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the Pirates cut the lead to 4-2 against Jose Fernandez.  The rookie only lasted 5 innings, giving up the 2 runs on five hits, striking out 5, but also walked four batters.  The bullpen went on to give up the lead and in the 10th inning, Russell Martin provided the heroics with a run-scoring single to end the game.  For the Marlins, Christian Yelich went 3-4, including his first major league home run.  It doesn’t get any easier for the Marlins, who are now in Atlanta to take on the red-hot Braves in a three-game set over the weekend.  The probable pitchers for the weekend series are:

TONIGHT Jacob Turner vs Brandon Beachy         7:30 pm
SATURDAY Nathan Eovaldi vs Alex Wood 7:10 pm
SUNDAY Henderson Alvarez vs Mike Minor          1:10 pm

The Fish continue their road trip on Monday in Kansas City, where they open a three-game series against the Royals before returning home to take on the San Francisco Giants starting on Friday.

The Fish are still at the bottom of the list in runs scored in MLB, with 363 runs in their 113 games.  Here are the rest of the bottom-dwellers:
