THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 2013

The Dodgers‘ Zack Greinke dominated last night at Marlins Park, allowing only one run in his eight innings of work and improved his record to 12-3 as the Dodgers beat the Fish 4-1.  The Marlins‘ only run came on a first-inning homer by Giancarlo Stanton.  Yasiel Puig, who went 0-5 last night, is in the middle of his first real slump, with only 7 hits in his last 42 at bats (.167) over his last 11 games.  Nathan Eovaldi gave up three runs in his seven innings of work, only two of the runs were earned as the Marlins committed three errors behind him.  They will finish off their four-game series today at 12:40 pm.  Henderson Alvarez will toe the rubber for the Fish, while LA counters with Cy Young award candidate Clayton Kershaw.

Something to ponder, while on the subject of the Dodgers . . . As good as Yasiel Puig has been, and as good as Hanley Ramirez has been since returning from his injuries, starting pitching is the key for the Dodgers.  Their one-two punch of Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw has been incredible.  They will be scary in the playoffs.  Check out their recent numbers:

Greinke Kershaw

Won - Loss record 8-1 6-3
