Josh Johnson finally pitched like an ace yesterday, as the Marlins salvaged a split of their four-game series with Milwaukee, beating the Brewers 6-2.  Johnson went seven inning, gave up two runs and four hits, and struck out seven.  Donovan Solano had three hits, scored a run, and drove in another.  The Fish are in Washington, DC to take on the Nationals this weekend.  Tonight, at 7:00 pm, Jacob Turner takes on Stephen Strasburg.  Saturday and Sunday the teams square off at 1:00 pm.  Mark Buehrle faces Ross Detwiler on Saturday, and Ricky Nolasco opposes Edwin Jackson on Sunday.  I understand the season is over for the Marlins, but I would really enjoy a sweep this weekend.  Reviewing the rest of yesterday’s action in the majors, first in the National League,

For the second consecutive day, the Braves scored an unearned run to beat the Rockies 1-0.  Tim Hudson scattered six hits in seven scoreless innings and the Braves have won four out of their last five.

In the American League, 

Orioles 10 Yankees 6

The Yankees erases a five-run deficit in the top of the eighth inning, but gave it right back in the bottom of the inning.  The Orioles hit six home runs - two by Mark Reynolds.  Adam Jones, Chris Davis, Robert Andino, and Matt Wieters also went yard. The teams are again tied atop the AL East with 25 games left in the season.

Michael Young singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth inning.  

TODAY’S TRIVIA QUESTION:  The Yankees had a 10 game lead in the AL East on July 18th.  They are now tied with the Baltimore Orioles with 25 games to go.  What was the biggest division deficit a team overcame to advance to the post-season?  Tell you later, alligator.

The Dolphins kick off their regular season on Sunday in Houston at 1:00 pm, against the Texans, the only team in the NFL they have never beaten.  It won’t be easy for rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill, as he will have to face a Texan defense that was second in the NFL in total defense last season.  We should also remember that the Fins are 3-7 in their last 10 openers on the road, and they haven’t been getting off to good starts, with an 11-21 record in the month of September over the last 10 years.

Los Dolphins arrancan su temporada regular este domingo en Houston a la una de la tarde contra los Houston Texans, el unico equipo en la NFL al que los Dolphins nunca han podido vencer en su historia.  Un debut dificil para el quarterback novato Ryan Tannehill, que tiene que enfrentarse a la defensa de los Texans, que termino la temporada del año pasado #2 en la liga.  Tambien debemos de recordar que los Fins estan 3-7 en sus ultimos 10 juegos de apertura fuera de casa, y llevan tiempo ya arrancando mal, con un record de 11-21 en el mes de septiembre los ultimos 10 años.
