In college football, the University of Miami Hurricanes escaped Atlanta on Saturday with a 42-36 comeback victory over Georgia Tech. The Canes return home this Saturday to take on North Carolina State in a 12 noon encounter at the Seven-Names Stadium. The FIU Panthers lost a close one, 28-21, to the Louisville Cardinals, who came into the Cage ranked #18 in the country. The Panthers, playing without starting running back Derrick Rhodes, lost second string running back Darian Mallory during the game and they also lost starting QB Jake Medlock. Medlock suffered a broken bone in his leg in the second quarter, and will be out for at least 4 weeks. Freshman QB EJ Hilliard did well in his first college action, and will start on Saturday against Louisiana in Lafayette. Game time this week for FIU-Louisiana is 7:00 pm. The Miami Dolphins fell to the New York Jets, in overtime, 23-20. Dolphins kicker Dan Carpenter missed two field goals, one from 47 yards, and later missed the game winner from 48 yards out in the overtime period. The Fins travel to Phoenix next Sunday, to take on the Arizona Cardinals, one of three remaining unbeaten teams.
