The Marlins lost their sixth consecutive game, falling to the Braves 3-0.  By the way, the Fish have been shut out a major-league leading 17 times this season.  WE’RE #1 !!! Josh Johnson took the loss, his 14th in 2012.  That is one more loss than he had the prior four seasons combined.  Mercifully, the series with the Braves ends tonight.  Jacob Turner takes the hill for the Fish against Tommy Hanson.  First pitch - 7:05 pm

The Braves remain four games behind the Washington Nationals in the NL East.  The magic number for the Nats stands at 4.  In the race for the wild card in the NL, St. Louis has a 3 1/2 game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and 5 1/2 over Arizona.  Over in the American League, the Detroit Tigers took over first place in the the AL Central by a game over the Chicago White Sox.  The Yankees lead the AL East by 1 1/2 games over the Orioles, and the Texas Rangers lead the Oakland A’s by 3 games in the west.  That could get interesting, as these two teams still meet 4 times this season.  The AL wild card standings show Baltimore ahead of Oakland by half a game, the Angels are two games behind the A’s, and Tampa Bay is 3 games behind Oakland.

Alex Avila and Austin Jackson homered in the win.  Miguel Cabrera went 0-4, and had a home run taken away by left fielder Alex Gordon who reached over the fence to rob Cabrera.  Miggy is still leading the league in batting average and RBI, but trails Josh Hamilton by one home run as he tries to become the first player to win a triple crown since 1967.

The NFL and the referees finally reached an agreement yesterday, and the regular refs will be back on the field for tonight’s Thursday night game between the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore.  It’s about damn time.  

On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins will be in Phoenix to take on the Arizona Cardinals, one of three remaining unbeaten teams in the league.  Game time is 4:00 pm, and the game will be televised by CBS, Channel 4 in Miami.

Los Marlins perdieron su sexto juego consecutivo ayer, cayendo ante los Bravos de Atlanta 3-0.  Los Peces han sido blanqueados 17 veces esta temporada, el mayor numero en las grandes ligas.  WE’RE #1 !!!  Josh Johnson sufrio la derrota, su decimacuarta de la temporada.  En los cuatro años antes de esta campaña, Johnson solamente perdio un total de 13 juegos.  Misericordiosamente, la serie con los Bravos termina esta noche.  Jacob Turner toma la lomita para los Marlins, Tommy Hanson abre para los Bravos.  El primer lanzamiento es a las 7:05 pm.  

Atlanta sigue cuatro juegos detras de los Washington Nationals en la division del este, y el numero magico de los Nats es 4.  Cualquier combinacion de victorias de Washington y derrotas de Atlanta que sumen 4, y se acabo lo que se daba.  Los Bravos ya se garantizaron estar en la post temporada de cualquier forma, y para la segunda posicion del wild card, los Cardenales de San Luis tienen una ventaja de 3 1/2 juegos sobre los Milwaukee Brewers y los Dodgers de Los Angeles.  En la liga americana, los Tigres de Detroit tomaron el primer lugar en la division central sobre las Medias Blancas de Chicago por un juego.  En el este, los  Yankees siguen un juego y medio por delante de Baltimore.  Los Orioles tienen medio juego de ventaja en el wild card sobre Oakland, y los A’s estan dos juegos arriba de los Angelinos y tres juegos sobre Tampa Bay para la segunda posicion del wild card.

La NFL y el sindicato de referees llegaron a un acuerdo laboral ayer, y los referees regulares regresan al terreno para los juegos de esta semana, comenzando con el encuentro entre los Cleveland Browns y los Baltimore Ravens esta noche.  Ya era hora!

Parece que fue ayer cuando vimos a los Miami Heat cerrar su serie de campeonato de la NBA, eliminando a Oklahoma City para capturar su segundo campeonato mundial.  El campo de entrenamiento de los Heat abre este sabado, y la temporada regular comienza el dia 30 de octubre, aqui en el AAA, contra los Boston Celtics.
