The Marlins lost to the Braves last night, 3-0, Atlanta taking two out of three against the Fish.  Kris Medlen dominated, allowing only four hits in eight innings, striking out six.  Medlen is 9-1 this season, 7-0 with a 0.86 ERA since July 31.  The Braves have won 21 consecutive games that Medlen has started dating back to 2010.  The all time record is 22 by the Yankees and Whitey Ford.  Both the Marlins and the Braves are off today, the Braves will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Phils this weekend, while the Fish visit the Mets in New York.  Reviewing yesterday’s action in the majors, first in the National League,

In the National League, the only division race still in doubt is the NL East, where Washington leads Atlanta by 5 games.  The Braves are pretty much in control of the wild card race, with a seven game cushion over the Cardinals.  The second spot is still up in the air, with St. Louis holding a two-game lead on the Dodgers.  The Brewers are 2 1/2 games behind, the Phillies 4 back, the Pirates and the Diamondbacks find themselves 4 1/2 games behind for that second spot.

Ichiro Suzuki stayed hot, going 4-4 with 4 stolen bases and drove in the deciding run in the eighth inning

After an 18 inning win the night before, the O’s won their 15th consecutive extra inning game this season.  Adam Jones hit a two-run homer in the 11th to complete the sweep.

Carlos Peña and Jeff Keppinger connected long distance, Peña drove in three runs.

Miguel Cabrera hit his 41st homerun of the season, Omar Infante drove in two runs

In the AL, the Yankees lead the East by 1/2 game over the Orioles who are off today.  The Yankees take on the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium.  The White Sox lead the AL Central by two games over the Tigers. The Rangers lead the West by four games over Oakland.  In the wild card, Baltimore jumped over the A’s to take the lead in the wild card, the A’s lead the Angels by 3 1/2 for the second wild card spot.

In college football this week, the local universities are both in action again this saturday.  The Hurricanes travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech in a 3:00 pm game. Los Marlins perdieron anoche contra los Bravos de Atlanta, 3-0.  Kris Medlen domino en la lomita, permitiendo solamente cuatro hits en ocho entradas y poncho a seis.  Medlen esta 9-1 esta temporada, y desde el dia 31 de julio, esta 7-0 con un promedio de efectividad de 0.86.  Los Bravos han ganado 21 juegos consecutivos en los que Medlen fue el abridor.  El record en las grandes ligas es 22, que lograron los Yankees con Whitey Ford.  Los Peces y los Bravos estan descansando hoy.  Atlanta visita a los Phillies en Philadelphia este fin de semana, y los Peces le hacen la visita a los Mets en Nueva York.  Revisando los resultados de los juegos de ayer en las grandes ligas, primero en la liga nacional,
