Another day off today in Major League Baseball, and all the teams get back into it tomorrow.  A lot of potential trades and moves being discussed among all the teams, whether a buyer or a seller.  Here are the latest rumors and moves from mlbtraderumors.com:

Here is ESPN chiming in with their gossip:

From Fox Sports and Yardbarker, here is the latest buzz:

In other baseball news, Cuban pitcher Misael Siveiro told El Nuevo Herald that he is defecting.  Here is the rest of the story from ESPN.com:

TODAY’S TRIVIA QUESTION:  Last All Star question for a while:  Where will the next two all star games be played?  Tell you later, alligator.

The Marlins will be going on the road after the all-star break, first in Milwaukee to take on the Brewers in a three-game series next weekend, and then off to Colorado to face the Rockies in a four game set.  The Fish return home on Friday the 26th for a ten-game homestand:  three-games against the Pirates, four against the Mets, and an interleague three-game series against the Cleveland Indians.  The Marlins will have Jacob Turner, Nathan Eovaldi, and Henderson Alvarez as the starters in the series against the Brewers next weekend.  The Marlins have played very well recently, as evidenced by their 22-17 record since May 31.  Here’s hoping that they can keep it up the remainder of the season.

Here are the anticipated pitching matchups for the series in Milwaukee:

FRIDAY Jacob Turner vs Kyle Lohse 8:10 pm
SATURDAY Nate Eovaldi vs Yovani Gallardo 7:10 pm
SUNDAY Henderson Alvarez vs Wily Peralta 2:10 pm

Here are the individual league leaders in MLB:

In college football, FIU running back Kedrick Rhodes was kicked off the team after a drunken altercation in which he drew and shot a weapon on campus.  Another mental midget athlete with a gun who believes he can get away with anything because he is a football player.  Apparently, there isn’t enough adult supervision and leadership at FIU any more.

David J. Neal of the Herald has a lot more:

My comments:  I preface this by saying that I have been friends with FIU Athletic Director Pete Garcia for many, many years and I have been involved with the FIU football program as a broadcaster since its inception.  Although I realize and understand that student-athletes need to take responsibility for their actions, the university, and more specifically, the athletic department, should be held accountable for the behavior and the lack of success both in the classroom and on the field of their student athletes.  Athletic Directors at other universities have been fired for much less.  As the Athletic Director, Pete is responsible for the successes and the failures.  In my opinion, he has made questionable (at best) decisions, such as hiring Isiah Thomas as basketball coach and firing football head coach Mario Cristobal after last season.  According to sources, this situation is going to get bigger before it goes away, with more possible suspensions and dismissals on the horizon.  This athletic program needs to refocus very quickly, stay away from controversy, and start producing positive results, both on and off the field.

In NFL news, Miami Dolphins CEO Mike Dee is leaving the team and will take over as President and CEO of the San Diego Padres:

At least, we can sleep at night, knowing full well that Aaron Hernandez remains in jail, where he belongs.

In NBA and Miami Heat news, the Heat cleaned house at the ESPY awards last night on ESPN.  The Heat won the “BEST TEAM” award, LeBron James won the “MALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR”, and  Game Six of the NBA Finals won for the “GAME OF THE YEAR”.
