Note to the Marlins:  LEAVE THE ROOF TO MARLINS PARK CLOSED.  When starting a game with the roof closed, the team is 0-13 this season.  Yesterday was no exception to the rule.  In a 14-inning, 4 hour and 14 minute marathon, the Braves scored 6 runs in the top of the 14th to defeat the Marlins 7-1.  The Marlins bullpen was remarkable, retiring 24 straight Braves hitter until hapless Chris Hatcher took over in the 14th.  Hatcher, who had just been recalled from AAA, was immediately sent back down after allowing the six runs, on four hits and three walks in his lone inning of work.  The Fish left 12 men on base and had their chances, including in the 13th, when they had runners on first and second with nobody out, but Logan Morrison grounded into a double play and Adeiny Hechavarria popped out.  No rest for the weary, as the teams take the field again at 7:10 pm tonight.  Henderson Alvarez will toe the rubber for the Fish, while the Braves send Julio Teheran to the mound.

The Fish are still the worst run-scoring team in MLB, with 284 runs in their 88 games.  Here are the rest of the bottom-dwellers:

TEAM                 W-L       Runs
Marlins 32-56 284
White Sox 34-52 314
Mariners 40-49 336
Astros 32-57 337
Dodgers 43-45 339

Another note to the Marlins:  PLEASE insert Justin Ruggiano in the starting lineup every day.

In the major leagues yesterday, in the American League,

Tigers 4 Indians 2 (10 innings)
Victor Martinez’ two-run double in the top of the tenth inning proved to be the game winner.
