The Marlins took three out of four games against the Colorado Rockies, finishing them off yesterday with a 5-3 win.  Donovan Solano capped a four-run ninth inning with a two-run homer after Rob Brantly scored on a passed ball in the eighth inning to break a scoreless tie.  Nathan Eovaldi threw six scoreless innings, but did not factor in the decision.  Steve Chisek closed out the ninth inning after the Rockies scored their three runs to earn his 20th save of the year.  Crazy stat:  The Marlins are the first visiting team EVER to hold the Rockies to 3 earned runs or less in every game of a four-game series at Coors Field.  The Marlins are back in Miami where they open up a 10-game homestand at Marlins Park.  First up, a very tough three-game weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Here are the probable pitchers for the series:

TONIGHT Jeff Locke vs Henderson Alvarez 7:10 pm
SATURDAY Charlie Morton vs Tom Koehler 7:10 pm
SUNDAY Gerrit Cole vs Jose Fernandez 1:10 pm

The Marlins placed rookie outfielder Marcell Ozuna on the disabled list with a left thumb injury that will require season-ending surgery.  Ozuna had been originally sent to the minor leagues, but team doctors examined the thumb before he headed out to Jacksonville.  Here’s the complete story from ESPN.com:

THE ANSWER TO TODAY’S TRIVIA QUESTION: Here is Part Two of the two-part question that I brought you yesterday.  In the decade of the 2000‘s, Alex Rodriguez led MLB in home runs with 435.  Who were the leaders in the prior decades between?  Yesterday, I asked you for the leaders in the 20‘s, 30‘s, 40‘s, and 50‘s.  Today, give me the leaders in the decades of the 1960‘s. 70‘s, 80‘s, and 90‘s.  I promise you, you will be surprised at the correct answers.

The leader in home runs in the decade of the 1960‘s was Harmon Killebrew, who hit 393 dingers.  In the 1970‘s, it was Pops, Willie Stargell, who connected 296 homers.  In the 80‘s, Mike Schmidt led the way with 313, and in the 1990‘s, Mark McGwire hit 405 homers.  Here’s the complete list, including yesterday’s answers:

1920‘s Babe Ruth               467
1930‘s Jimmie Foxx 415
1940‘s Ted Williams 234
1950‘s Duke Snider 326
1960’s Harmon Killebrew 393
1970’s Willie Stargell 296
1980’s Mike Schmidt 313
1990’s Mark McGwire 405
2000’s Alex Rodriguez 435
