FRIDAY, July 12th, 2013

The Marlins welcome the Washington Nationals to Marlins Park tonight, in the opener of a three-game series, the last series before the all-star break.  Since May 31st, the Fish are 20-16 and their starting pitchers have only allowed more than three runs in a game three times in their last 23 games.  Tonight, it will be Nathan Eovaldi on the mound for the Marlins, and he will be facing Stephen Strasburg, who has beaten the Marlins five times already in his young career.  Game time tonight is at 7:10 pm.  Here are the expected pitching matchups against Washington the rest of the weekend:

SATURDAY Dan Haren vs Jose Fernandez 7:15 pm
SUNDAY    Taylor Jordan vs Kevin Slowey 1:10 pm

After the break, the Marlins will be on the road, first in Milwaukee to take on the Brewers in a three-game series next weekend, and then off to Colorado to face the Rockies in a four game set.  The Fish return home on Friday the 26th for a ten-game homestand:  three-games against the Pirates, four against the Mets, and an interleague three-game series against the Cleveland Indians.

The Fish are still at the bottom of the list in runs scored in MLB, with 288 runs in their 89 games.  Here are the rest of the bottom-dwellers:
