Pinch me to make sure I am not dreaming.  The Marlins fell behind to the Arizona Diamondbacks last night 5-0 in the first inning.  No problem. The Fish scored two runs in the second and 3 runs in the sixth to tie the game, and Giancarlo Stanton drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth inning with a single and the Marlins beat the D-Backs again, 6-5.  Bad news for the Marlins yesterday, however.  Emilio Bonifacio had to come out of the game due to pain in his knee, and will have an MRI today.  The two teams square off again today in a rare doubleheader, the first double header in the history of Chase Field.  In the first game, which starts at 3:40 pm, Wade LeBlanc takes the mound for the Marlins, and Tyler Skaggs makes his major league debut for Arizona.  The second game starts at 9:40 pm and we will see Jacob Turner make his Marlins debut since coming over from Detroit in the Anibal Sanchez/Omar Infante trade and he will be facing Wade Miley.  In four starts in New Orleans, Turner is 2-0 with a 1.98 ERA.  In other games yesterday, first in the National League,

The news that rookie first-round draft pick Ryan Tannehill will be the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins when the regular season kicks off against the Houston Texans on September 9th was welcomed by the team’s veteran players, who don’t see Tannehill as your normal rookie.  Offensive tackle Jake Long said “He doesn’t act like a rookie.  He comes in and commands the huddle.  He’s the leader, and he knows this offense inside and out and has been doing a good job.”  Receiver Davone Bess chimed in as well, "I think one of the better qualities of him is he's a competitor." "He wants things perfect. There's always dialogue between him and the tight ends, him and the wide receivers, to get stuff corrected if it's wrong. I think that's a good positive thing."  Tight end Anthony Fasano added, "In the spring I saw his arm strength and accuracy on the run, on the move."  "He gets us into the right place. I mean, he's a rookie telling veterans where they need to line up sometimes. He has it all, so he's just gotten better and better every day."  

The naming of Tannehill as the starter was not a slam dunk for Fins head coach Joe Philbin.  Matt Moore ended last season winning 6 of his 9 starts and completed 61% of his passes.  His presence and leadership, both in the huddle, and in the locker room will be a valuable asset.  Based on what he did in 2011, Moore deserves better than a demotion to backup quarterback, and he came very close to saying so yesterday.  “I was disappointed,” Moore said. “Obviously, I was the leader of this team and I wanted to be back there with the guys, but I understand the decision and I support the decision.”  

People have to understand one thing.  In the NFL, you are one snap from going from backup quarterback to starter.  The fact that the Dolphins are very confident in what Matt Moore can do, made the decision to start Tannehill a little easier for the coaches.  Moore will be a very valuable asset to the 2012 Miami Dolphins.  The percentages in this league indicate that at some point this year, the Fins are likely to need Moore to perform on the field, whether it’s because of injury or by choice.   

In other NFL news, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be playing four home games in London, one every season, starting in 2013.  The Jaguars are considered the leagues least popular franchise, ranking near or at the bottom in website hits and Facebook and Twitter interaction.  They do not draw well in Jacksonville, and the fact that the Jags have missed the playoffs in 10 of the last 12 seasons.  The NFL has always said that it is committed to expanding to multiple games in England and eventually establishing a franchise there.

La noticia que el novato y seleccion del primer round del draft Ryan Tannehill va a ser el quarterback abridor para los Miami Dolphins cuando la temporada regular abra el dia 9 de septiembre contra los Houston Texans fue bien recibida por los jugadores veteranos de los Dolphins, que no ven a Tannehill como un novato comun y corriente.  El tackle ofensivo Jake Long dijo “El no actua como un novato. Entra y toma control de la agrupacion ofensiva antes de la jugada.  Es el lider, se conoce la esquema ofensiva de atras pa’ alante, y ha estado haciendo un buen trabajo.”  El recibidor Davone Bess agrego, "Yo pienso que una de sus mejores cualidades es que le gusta competir.  Quiere las cosas perfecta.  Siempre hay dialogo entre el y el elenco de recibidores para arreglar cualquier cosa que este mal.  Pienso que eso es una cosa positiva.”  El tight end Anthony Fasano dijo, "En las practicas de la primavera, vi la fuerza que tiene en el brazo y lo acertado que son sus pases cuando el esta en movimiento.  Nos pone en el lugar preciso.  Hay que verlo, es un novato diciendole a los veteranos donde tienen que estar posicionados.  Lo tiene todo, y ha estado mejorando cada dia.” 

Nombrar a Tannehill como el abridor no puede haber sido una decision muy facil para el coach de los Dolphins, Joe Philbin.  Matt Moore termino la temporada pasada ganando 6 de sus nueve juegos como titular, y completo un 61% de sus pases.  Su presencia y liderazgo, tanto el el terreno como en el locker room, va a ser algo muy positivo para el equipo.  Basado en lo que logro en el 2011, Moore probablemente merecia la posicion de abridor, algo que el se acerco bastante en decir ayer.  “Me quede decepcionado.  Obviamente, yo era el lider de el equipo y queria estar de nuevo en el terreno con mis compañeros.  Asi y todo, entiendo y apoyo la decision del equipo.”  

Tenemos que acordarnos de una realidad.  En la NFL, uno esta a un pasito de ir de segundo quarterback a titular.  La realidad de que los Dolphins estan muy confiados en lo que Matt Moore puede hacer, probablemente lo ayudo a decidir en apurar el proceso con Tannehill.  Moore va a tener un rol muy importante con los Fins en el 2012.  Los porcentajes indican que existe la posibilidad y la probabilidad de que en algun momento esta temporada, los Dolphins van a necesitar que Moore regrese al terreno, ya sea debido a una lesion, o por decision propia.  

En otras noticias de la NFL, los Jacksonville Jaguars jugaran cuatro juegos “en casa” en Londres, un juego cada temporada, comenzando en el 2013.  Los Jaguars son considerados el equipo menos popular, ranqueando en ultimo lugar o cerca en numero de visitas a su sitio de internet, y actividad en Facebook y en Twitter.  No tienen buena asistencia en Jacksonville, claro que la realidad de que no han llegado a los playoffs en 10 de los ultimos 12 años no ayuda.  La NFL siempre ha dicho que quieren expander el numero de juegos en Inglaterra, y que eventualmente quieren establecer una franquicia alla.
